On Sunday, March 1, 2020, Ashton Contractors and Engineers, under contract with the City of Tucson Transportation Department, will close Broadway from Euclid Avenue to Santa Rita Avenue while crews remove two overhead sign structures in the area.
The closure will be in place from approximately 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Officers will be on-site to help direct traffic around the closure.
Motorists traveling eastbound on Broadway will be directed to turn north on Euclid Avenue, east on 10th Street and south on Santa Rita Avenue to return to Broadway.
Motorists traveling westbound on Broadway will be directed to turn north onto Santa Rita Avenue, west on 10th Street and south on Euclid Avenue to return to Broadway.
During the closure, a traffic shift will also take place. All travel will be shifted to the south side of the roadway from Euclid Avenue to Fremont Avenue. Once the road has re-opened, one lane of travel will be maintained in each direction with a center turn lane.
This schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
We will continue to provide updates, best routes,
and road closures throughout the construction phase
Although there will be access off Broadway Blvd during this phase of the construction, we recommend using the unobstructed route below.
The easiest way to avoid ALL the construction is to use Kino Pkwy/Campbell Avenue.
Take Kino Pkwy/Campbell to Miles St (no light). Turn on Miles St. heading west (towards downtown).
Miles will dead end at S. Santa Rita. Go right on S. Santa Rita to 12th St. Left on 12th Street (west).
12th St. turns into Freemont. Turn left into the gravel parking area for AAPAK Coolstream.
The GOOD NEWS is you can still easily access AAPAK Coolstream for all of your A/C parts! So give us a call or stop by today! 520-918-3604
And remember, WE DELIVER to shops all over the Valley!
While the limits of the project are Euclid Avenue to Country Club Road,
during the first phase of the project, work will begin by closing the south side of
Broadway from Euclid Avenue to Campbell Avenue to build a temporary detour.
Traffic will be shifted to the north side of the roadway with one lane of travel
maintained in each direction with a center turn lane. The south side closure is
scheduled to be in place for approximately two months.
On Monday, January 27, Tyndall Avenue, north of Broadway, will close while crews prepare the area for the installation of a storm drain. This closure will be in place for about two months. The side street just north of Broadway and west of Tyndall
Avenue will be open during this time to allow traffic to access Euclid Avenue.
This effort will negatively impact so many small businesses on the Sunshine Mile. For all the hardworking businesses impacted, we would like to thank the loyal Tucson customers for your continued support throughout this expansion project.
